How to Etch Glass: Personalized Pyrex Dishes

How to sculpt glass? Pyrex personalized glasses

This fun craft makes the perfect gift for Christmas, holidays, birthdays or weddings. We've been moving around a lot in the last 19 years, which means we're constantly getting rid of things. I once got rid of almost everything in my kitchen, but you know what?

Pyrex signs were left in my name... at all intersections. Great for lunch or dinner with your neighbor as your name is always on the plate so you will come back. Again, this is a great gift idea.

Necessary materials.

Pyrex tiles (or other glass).
Vinyl. you can also use contact paper (to insert inside the plate)
Transfer tape (optional)
Cricut Machine (You can use construction knife և alphabet stencils)
Glass carving cream
Dishwasher և paper towels

Start by cutting your desired names out of the vinyl. I used my Cricket Maker, but again this can be done with a utility knife և patterns on self-adhesive paper.

Then draw the inside of each letter (or white space) for the vinyl (or negative space) to be used as a template.

Then remove the vinyl floor and glue it to the inside of the tile. I used transfer tape for a smooth transition, but sticking them together like glue also works, just be mindful of underwear.

I chose the inside of the plate because there were logos embossed on the bottom that prevented the vinyl from sticking. So for best results, place directly into a glass baking dish.

Then, using a scraper or a large brush, apply the cream to the letters. I used to carve with very little cream, it leaves a hazy look rather than a crisp carving. So be generous. Leave the sour cream in the glass for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, remove the cucumbers with a grater. Surprisingly, this sour cream can be reapplied in the bottle and used again.

Rub as clean as possible without applying vinyl cream. Carving cream will remove any shiny sheen, so don't use it in the sink. True, this can be bypassed, but only if you are not a techie who knows what he is doing.

Carefully remove the vinyl adhesive.

Then use a damp paper towel to remove any remaining sour cream.

Then wash the dishes in the sink with warm soapy water. Dry ացեք and admire the fabulous engraving. I like! It's really fun when things are labelled... plus, it's really fun.
