How to Make a Woven Paper Heart Basket for Valentine's Day
How to make a wicker paper basket for Valentine's Day.
This wrenching basket is a fun paper craft I learned in third grade. We used giant heavyweight paper to make Valentine's Day box hearts. You only need a few sheets of tissue paper to flatten these cute little hearts. Amazing last minute Valentine's Day surprise!
This lovely weaving project can be used to store little candies to give to neighbors and friends. You can create as many documents as you want!
We provide a video of the process. Post following the form and step by step instructions.
Material for paper core webbing:
2 light colored papers (does not work with cardboard)
scissors
Step 1: Cut the heart in half.
Start folding the paper in the middle so it's 5.5 x 8.5. You can print this template on paper and then cut it from scratch. It should be 2.5 inches by 5 inches wide with a rounded edge at the top.
Then cut this shape onto a layer of colored paper and cut 2 identical long ovals.
Let the piece of paper fold in half.
Step 2: Cut two holes in each half of the heart.
Now make two long cuts in each half of the heart. Curved edges are rounded up. I only have this idea. You can crop different widths and get a completely different final effect, so use that!
Make 4, 5, 6 or 10 pieces to put together! Draw lines by cutting various shapes with scissors!
The weaving process is a little cool, because it opens the cup of the heart! Don't worry, it's easy.
Below is a typical non-3D texture. It's a little more difficult as it goes around in circles. Create a 3D basket effect with textures on both sides.
Step 3: Weave a paper heart
Hold the half of the paper heart as shown in the image below. Start at 3 and move to slot 3 C. Then slide slot 2 C. Then move to C1.
Then keep touching 3b, b to 2, 1 to b.
Finish knitting with the heart by knitting A3, A to 2 and finally A to 1.
If you think that it is difficult and you will succeed, try it! Then check that the inside of the heart is stitched properly. It should open like a beautiful basket.
Optionally, add a hanging curve to the basket. Fill it with candy, hang it in a garland, make it last longer with felt, or make a giant paper towel!
Here's a fun idea:
Make the curve big enough to fit on someone's door towel and you can give it a nice surprise!
This! do what you want! Try a different number of crochet lists. great holiday!
