Retro Craft: Vintage Resin Lucite Grapes DIY
retro craft. Vintage resin wine with his own hands
Do you know Harzwein? That's what women did in the 50's...it was nice to see grapes in an old woman's house. Commonly referred to as Lucite wine. I decided that doing a lot for myself would be a perfect craft. My mother-in-law has a bouquet of purple resinous grapes, but I've decided to switch to teal. I'm obsessed with the blues. Can't you say?
Equipment needed.
- 18 glass ornaments (transparent is desirable)
- Transparent blue և green
- Blender jar, blender stick, disposable gloves
- 16 Soft Wire
- 12 inch branch
- Pliers: Pliers:
- egg carton
- Train the wire և dig
Direction:
Start your jewelry collection by deviating from jewelry. Place them on the egg tray with holes. I used foil ornaments in the jar...when I cleaned the jar there was a piece of silver left behind.
Use clear glass if you don't like the silver effect. Spray into each scarf - work on the inside.
Fill an oversized party glass for a modern floral arrangement. Mine was just over 1 ounce each. I mix about 6 ounces of resin at a time so I can mix different colors. Mix the resin according to the directions on the packaging. 1 part resin և 1 part hardener, mix gently for 2 minutes. Then pour the mixed resin into the second jar and mix in a new stick for 1 minute.
Next, add a few green dots - a blue one or two. I've made some darker - lighter blends... some greener - some more blue. The variety of colors in my bouquet is delightful. Mix the paint thoroughly before filling.
After mixing, carefully pour resin onto each scarf. Then pour slowly, trying to insert the resin all the way into the ball but not down the throat...otherwise you'll need a coffee grinder to remove it later.
Continue filling with colored resin patterns in the same way. Then let it rest for 24 hours. I mixed the resin multiple times to complete all 18 decorations, using almost the entire 32oz box.
The next day, push the 2 ornaments deep into the box. Once again. Wear gloves, eye protection. և Work outdoors or in the garage. The glass ornament is broken into pieces as shown below.
If you hit the jewelry it will break, the glass is much easier to peel off. Although I have some difficult moments that I have to scrape with a small spatula. Then rinse with warm soapy water.
Do you see how many silver leaves are left as a result? Regardless, I didn't know it was going to happen until I tried it... but I also love the effects.
Then I sent my son to the garage to shred the leaves and drill 1" holes in each ball in 6" wire. Then press lightly on the wire and add a few drops of super glue.
Now drill holes in the branch about 1/2-1 inch apart. Then push the wire through the hole and wrap the rest of the wire tightly around the branch.
Now drill holes if necessary and add more resin balls. Finally, wrap the grapes with wire as you work.
Then fill in the gaps by adding colored resin balls. Keep the grape resin on the bottom of the stick - gradually move away as you walk. Offers an unobstructed view of the grapes.
The color palette is just amazing. I like the color of light water. That's amazing, isn't it? It's like a time machine that takes you back to the 1950's. I love reviving old entertainment crafts.
