How to Engrave Glass: Personalized Pyrex Food

These fun prints make the perfect gift for Christmas, holidays, birthdays or weddings! We have changed a lot in the last 19 years, which means getting rid of things over and over again. Once I left almost everything in the kitchen, but you know what?

My name is associated with Pyrex records... in all movements. Eating or dining with your neighbors is great because your name is forever on the plate - that's how it will come back! Again, this is a great gift!

Necessary materials:

Pyrex (or other glass) plate.
Vinyl - you can also use the contact sheet (inserted in the case)
Transfer ribbon (optional)
Cricket machine (you can use a hobby knife and an alphabet template)
Cream for glass etching
Laundry soap and paper towels

Start by cutting the correct name out of the vinyl. I used my cricket maker, but again, this can be done with a utility knife and free communication paper templates.

Then draw inside each letter (or positive space) so that the vinyl (or negative space) can be used as a template.

Then remove the vinyl back and place the vinyl in the pot. I used transfer tape for smooth transitions, but it also works to stick them together like glue, just remember the inside.

I chose the vinyl interior because it has an embossed logo that will prevent the vinyl from sticking together. So for best results, place directly into a glass cake container.

Then use a scraper or a large brush and apply a large amount of warming cream to all the letters. I used to carve with very little cream and leave a hazy look instead of a fresh engraving. So generous! Leave the peeling cream in the glass for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, remove the pickling cream with a scraper. It should be noted that this poisoning cream can be reused by scratching the bottle!

Clean as much as possible without pushing the cream under the vinyl. Etching cream scratches everything with a glossy surface, so you don't want it in the sink. Of course, the time for this is 15 minutes, so it may not work out ... but it's still great that such things do not go down the drain.

Carefully remove the vinyl adhesive and throw it in the trash.

Then use a damp cloth to remove any remaining etchant.

After that, proceed to wash the sink with warm soapy water. Check out the dry and beautiful carving! I like it! Celebrating something is fun... plus it's a lot of fun.

Then quickly look around the house looking for all the glass and think of all the possible things you can cut! Ha ha ha. Repeat the process for all glassware within 5 miles. I was cooking at my neighbor's house after he brought us a peach cobbler. ;) A win-win!

This is the perfect handmade gift for a holiday gift! Add the bride's name to their plate...or just bookmark yours for them to come back! Maintenance is also easy, just wash the dishes as usual.
