DIY Resin Monogram Necklace with Vinyl
Create your favorite monogram necklace in minutes. The perfect handmade gift for your loved ones. This necklace is easy to make and would be a great project if you are unfamiliar with using resin. Jewelry resin is addicting - you will love it!
If you are new to resin making, this is the perfect project to start with. The resin consists of 2 parts, when mixed they create a chemical reaction to polymerize it. It cures to a shiny, smooth and crystalline glass surface.
Resin can yellow over time, so it's best to use it on darker or at least non-white surfaces. All resins yellow over time, it doesn't depend on the brand. Just a warning if you're working with it. Provides a bright and beautiful finish!
I chose the letter "X" for my daughter, which letter will you choose?
Find a font that has the typeface style you want. I like a big font, you can use a permanent marker and write yourself or use vinyl and cut out with an electronic typewriter.
Materials needed for Resin Monogram Necklace:
Step 1: Vinyl Cricut
Using scissors or an awl, cut a sheet of paper the size of the inside of the frame.
Then use Cricut Maker to cut the vinyl to the size of your hanging frame, about 3/4" tall.
Then stick the transfer tape to the vinyl and transfer the monogram to the block paper.
Step 2: Mod Podge
Then draw Mod Podge in the frame.
Put the pad of paper inside and then draw Mod Podge on the sheet as well. Let it dry completely.
Step 3: Resin Jewelry
Now read the instructions for the jewelry resin. Before mixing the resin it is very important that you follow the instructions. It's time sensitive and if it's not mixed well it won't cool down and your project will spoil.
Okay, then read the instructions.
This frame doesn't require a lot of resin, but mix 1 part resin with 1 part hardener and mix for 2 minutes. Pour into the second cup and blend with the second stick for another 1 minute. Mixing this two-step process is crucial for curing the resin.
Stir slowly to avoid excessive bubbling.
Place the lid on a raised surface and then fill the inside of the sprinkler with the mixed resin. Leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and then use a flashlight or heat gun to remove any blisters that form. Leave to rest and harden overnight.
Step 4: Add channel
Use pliers to attach the chain to the frame.
