Victorian Ghost Children Halloween Photograph Editing Tutorial
Halloween Victorian Ghost Photo Editor Tutorial
There is nothing scarier than depressing Victorian children in the form of a ghost. It's a fun way to capture ghosts on camera! This is an amazing photo shoot I do with my kids, one of my favorite projects.
Lace umbrellas and swinging pocket watches...these kids know how to create a spooky look in a clean environment. This fun post has been updated since the 2012 post I won a contest with this photo editing post and won our first iPad 7
Looking at these photos, you can almost hear the laughter of children echoing in the jungle. Their sad faces recalled a bygone era.
These images with their monotony are really amazing and perfect Halloween decorations!
Tools for this session:
The camera
tripod
victorian era children
victorian accessories
Computer/laptop to edit
Image editing software (Photoshop, PixLR, etc.)
First we took 376 photos. Well, let's go back. I told my kids what I wanted to do...the 10, 8 and 4 year olds were all there...what a surprise! I have the best children.
First step: dress up!
Decorate children's "old" clothes. The easier, the better.
The guys after the bow tie I saved for this photo shoot pinned the safety pin to their shirts. The boys wear vests, which are their standard attire in church. And can you believe I kept that dress in her closet for my daughter? Just a simple school dress and dark gray tights.
Here are some accessories. Antique keys, antique pocket watches and lace umbrellas.
Then we walked with me in hoodies and yoga pants. I explore wonderful natural places... and a kilometer and a half of small tombs In front of us. (yeah come on my kids are amazing...and we are a family with 1 car)
Once you have chosen the location, place the camera on the tripod and do not drag it. Put the kids in the picture and take a photo or two.
Then position the camera correctly on the tripod and have the children stand behind the camera to get out of the picture. Take photos only in the background.
The best Halloween photo shoot!
The best thing about this photo shoot is that all my kids don't have to laugh at the same time! I told them to look a little sad...and we got some great photos!
Step 3: Photo Editing
Reward your kids with gifts and movies now! You got it!
Well, in general, I'm a Photoshop girl. I've been using it since high school... I remember when cavemen discovered Photoshop for PC. Besides. I decided to try pixlr ... and I loved it! It's free...a great bonus! And the navigation is basically the same as in Photoshop, so it didn't take me long to figure it out. So if you've always wanted a great photo editor, give it a try!

The download process is simple and you can see both images side by side.
Now you have 2 levels. Then upstairs (it's with the boys) Select this little carrot: change layer settings
This will open the OPACITY slider. This is the fun part. Just use the slider to make people look like ghosts! Each image is different. In some I took 60% opacity, in others only 73%...
Next you want to look at the layers and make sure they line up as much as possible. Not always super perfect, but it does give a vintage double exposure feel!
Then deselect the image... You can also use sepia tone or vintage photo effect.
Repeat as many times as photos you have! We change a lot of photos! We'll print them at Walmart in 1 hour, make cards for family and friends, and decorate the walls in the entryway!
It helps if you have ornate vintage frames...a bit creepy! I love how they add horror to our Halloween decorations.
These photos are a happy reminder of the time since they were taken in 2012 and that was 9 years ago! I love seeing my amazing grandchildren because the memories of their childhood haunt us while we live in North Carolina.
Find familiar titles and take pictures, there will be a fun family history lesson. It would be great to have your own last name on the headstone.
Incredible, isn't it? These kids are tough, they run for miles, they wear weird costumes and they let me take lots of pictures of them for this fun shoot.
I really have the best son. And in fact, I really want to remake this recording and release it again. Maybe you will find a scary alley or an empty house! What do you think?
Please like, pin and share! Or... save for later!
