How to Paint a Watercolor Wash Background

How to draw a watercolor background.

It is very interesting to work with watercolors. I like to paint with watercolors. They are perfect for paper art, abstract art, gift tags and so on. Follow me on Instagram to see what I do with these watercolor cleanings!

It’s almost impossible to confuse the best of this technique! Perfect for all ages and skill levels!

Here is a video tutorial on drawing a watercolor background:

Necessary accessories for watercolor washing machine:

Dr. F. Ink Martens Bombay India
watercolor paper
Flat brush 1 inch wide
ura
handkerchief or knees
paintable
pallet or cardboard
Apron (I never wear it and sometimes I regret it)

For your information:

I use Dr. Bombay India ink . F. Martens . They are very bright and retain most of their color during the drying process. They also shine when dried. You can use this technique with any watercolor ... but you will lose some of your vitality and some watercolors will make the finish foam.

Step 1:

First, cut the paper to the size you want. I love the beautiful 5x7 inches, then they are easy to frame ... fold like a postcard ... or cut out for a bookmark or gift tag.

Step 2:

Then glue the paper to the waterproof work surface. Whether you need to paint your dining room table or not, no! Take a piece of plywood from the garage or a neighbor and glue the paper. Then put it in a plastic bag and work it out.

Step 3:

Fill the color palette. It’s very fluid, is it a word? He runs, so be careful when filling in the blanks ... a little paint will help ... I have filled in the gaps almost to the neck and used more than double the watercolor paint shown in the photo below.

Step 4:

Now use a brush and clean water. Apply a layer of water to the paper. Do not fill out the letter completely. I use an old mug for a glass of water ... so I don’t drink inadvertently when I’m at work!

Step 5:

Now soak the brush in the color you want and let it slide over the paper in the water.
Add as many colors as you want. (Watch the video above again if you don't understand)

color combinations:

Some colors blend well with each other ... others don't. Do you remember how colors blend in primary school? You know, red and yellow turn orange ... blue and yellow turn green ... and red and blue turn purple. They are great colors to put next to each other in the water as they blend into the new color.

It's best not to combine additional colors (which look at each other on the color wheel map) ... such as red and green (although I did in the video), purple and yellow ... and orange and blue. When these colors are mixed, they turn brown ... or mud, as we call them.

Another good tip for mixing is to use the colors or 3-5 color groups that make up the rainbow on the color wheel. Reds, oranges and yellows are beautiful on the one hand. Yellow, green and blue are my favorites. Blue, green and purple also work!

Be creative and give it a try! Let the * kids * play together with the adults to practice color theory. (Note: my kids are old ... my baby is 11 years old ... so I may not remember what little kids can do ... it’s color ... and that’s why everything is color).

Step 6: Now wait for the paper to dry completely. You can use a hair dryer to speed up the process ... but I usually have a lot of other things to do when I’m cheating on multiple tasks, so a few minutes isn’t a big deal.

Watercolor paper folds easily when wet. The duct tape is there to help keep it in shape while it dries ... so keep it stuck in the drying process.

Step 7: Finally, remove the masking tape and enjoy the magic of mixed paint! I love how the colors rotate, change, and blend.

Troubleshooting:

If you find this technique difficult ... I don't think you're using enough water. It’s weird to put water on paper, but that’s what this technique is all about.

Now add some handwritten quotes, use the label as a gift, hang it as a work of art, cut it into a bookmark, or fold it into a handmade postcard. The colors go beautifully and blend in!
