How to Make Resin Rainbow Coasters DIY
How to make a do-it-yourself rainbow resin settlement
Make beautiful rainbow resin pillows. This fun container makes a wonderful DIY gift. These rainbow glitter cushions are simple acrylic and resin paints that can be painted in less than an hour... plus some drying time. Have you ever tried acrylic? This is a very fun and very addictive skill... I want to paint all the surfaces in my house!REQUIRED PARAMETERS:
- Glossy finish Envirotex Lite
- wooden poles
- Fuchsia, yellow and blue acrylic paint.
- Mixing cups, stirrers, disposable work surfaces and gloves
- Hot rifle or stun gun
Start by covering your work surface with a disposable item. I used a plastic tablecloth. Then put a small cup on the table. Place the support on the cup.
If the spacers do not protrude from the table, chances are that excess resin will run off rather than splash over the table.
Then mix the resin according to package directions. The resin I used, Envirotex-Lite High Gloss, is similar to 50x varnish. Mix the resin in a two step mixing process.
Proper mixing is the only way to ensure the resin will work properly. 1 part resin and 1 part hardener are mixed for 2 minutes. Then transfer the resin to the second cup and stir with the second stick for a full minute. Now it's ready to use.
Pour the resin into a smaller cup. Add a pea-sized amount of acrylic paint to each cup and mix the paint thoroughly. Pink, yellow, blue and white.
Now the fun part! Make sure you wear gloves and gently apply/blend the 2 colors. Click and mix pink and blue to make it look purple. Clean the gloves with a baby towel.
Then use a hot air gun to gently rub and blow off the resin. This will create pop-up bubbles and add some movement to the stands. They will look like beach waves made of foam.
Then quickly sand the bottom edge to remove any droplets that form. Here she is! They are ready to sit on the coffee table for a hot drink or as a DIY gift!
