How do I make a Harry Potter themed cake topper in Cricut?

Hello friend! I'm so excited for this Harry Potter cake post, especially since it means I have to throw a Harry Potter birthday party this weekend and eat lots of cake, how many sweets!

This Harry Potter themed cake stand is the perfect decoration for a geek birthday party. The Harry Potter universe is filled with symbols, characters and characters. Thanks to that, this Harry Potter survival birthday cake is super easy!

Alright, let's get started with this amazing Harry Potter themed cake topper. Shiny gold offers an elegant touch that doesn't need to embellish the paper. But I also added some chocolate frogs!

The topper uses the Harry Potter font to say Happy Birthday, full of series icons and symbols. I noticed that Harry Potter's birthday is July 31st...

But let me tell you - I celebrate Harry Potter Day on May 2nd as a Happy Birthday! Mainly because of the Golden Snitch. I am in love!

Harry Potter Cake Requirements:

Step 1: Black Cardstock

Openthe project I designed in Cricut Design Space. Then click on "do". If you are using matte black card stock or Cricut Maker 3 you can do this without a base.

Then cut out a line from black cardboard.

Then, as required by your Cricut machine, remove the black cardstock and place the glitter card inside the mat. Cut with a Cricut machine to adjust the depth of cut for glossy card stock.

Then remove the carpet and remove excess pieces of cardboard from the smooth image. The images are not fragmentary, they are made on a black background so that they fall apart in places.

Now use a hot glue gun (I have a low heat gun which helps a lot to avoid getting burned) and glue the gold glitter card to the black background.

I like to use hot glue because it lifts the paper up a bit and gives it a 3D look. It doesn't need to be 100% glued, the main line needs some hot glue.

Step 4: Final Attack on the Harry Potter Cake

When you're done with the glue, there may be several chains of hot glue at the top.

Then tape a warm paper towel to the back of the cake.

Glue the Harry Potter cake to the cake and you can shake it. Harry Potter Day is Monday May 2nd, so you might not want to throw a big birthday party... but just add that extra cake to your dessert (or sandwich, stack of pancakes, or vase) to make the day better. a little lighter!

So I threw a fun Harry Potter themed party for our weekend. We celebrated by watching Fantastic Beasts: A Dumbledore Mystery and eating lots of cake.

Topped with creamy peanut butter frosting and a drizzle of dark chocolate ganache, this layered chocolate cake is so delicious!
