How to Etch Glass: Personalized Pyrex Dishes
How to scratch glass: a special pyrex plate
This fun carving is the perfect Christmas, holiday, birthday or wedding gift! Over the past 19 years, we've moved around a lot, which means we're getting rid of things over and over again. I once threw almost everything into my kitchen, but what do you say? Pyrex plate with my name on it, bold... every step of the way. Perfect for pots or delivering food to the neighbors as your name is always on the plate so it will be back! Again, this is a great gift idea!
Vinyl - contact paper can also be used (for clipboard pasting)
Transfer tape (optional)
Cricut machine (you can use hobby knives and alphabet templates)
glass carving room
Soap and paper towels for packaging
Start by cutting your desired name out of the vinyl. I use Cricut Maker, but the construction knife and template can be made again on cheap contact paper.
Then draw the inside (or headspace) of each letter, using the vinyl (or headspace) as a template.
Then peel off the vinyl sheet and stick it inside the vinyl plate. I used duct tape for an easy transition, but it also serves as a sticker, don't forget the inside.
Then use a scraper or large brush and apply a generous amount of exfoliating cream to the letters. I used to paint with a very small amount of cream and instead of sharp scratches, I left a cloudy look. Very generous! Leave the cream on the glass for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, remove the exfoliating cream with a scraper. Surprisingly, reapply and reapply this exfoliating cream on glass!
Rub the cream as cleanly as possible without pressing it under the vinyl. The exfoliator will rub with a shiny surface everything that you don’t want to go into the sink. Of course, the running time for this is 15 minutes, so it probably won't be much ... but it's better not to sink such things.
Then go ahead and wash the dishes in the sink with warm soapy water. Experience dry and incredible exfoliation! I like it! Celebrating something is great...and it's a lot of fun.
Then take a quick look around the house and find everything that is made of glass and think of all the things that can be sanded down! Yes Yes. Repeat the process on all glass plates within a 5 mile radius. After bringing my neighbor a Peach Pinachi, I prepared a meal. ;) Wen-wen!
This is the perfect craft to make a holiday gift! Add the bride and groom's last name to the meal...or write your own last name to find out more! It is also easy to care for him, wash the dishes as usual.

I chose the inner plate because it has an embossed logo on the bottom to prevent it from sticking to the vinyl. So for best results, place it directly in a glass jar.
