Doll Review: McKeyla McAlister with lava lamp experiment (Project MC2)
Ever since Project MC2 came out, I’ve wanted to get my hands on it. However, they will soon be on sale in Spanish stores, and the price on Amazon.com was too high to pay € 18 for shipping. So when I finally saw the dolls in a store (a year after the release), I had to buy at least one.
The story of Project Mc2 dolls is about secret friends McKeyla McAlister, a secret agent with whom she formed a group of young spies. This line is trying to show young girls how interesting STEAM fields are (they added “art”). Some of the dolls I get come with experiments so that girls can learn basic science. Now let's start checking.
Project Mc2 boxes are white, with a notebook sheet or school connector visible. A light plastic window is a smaller box placed inside a larger white box. In the lower left corner, we can see the image of the actor McKayla playing in the TV show Mika Abdala.
At the back of the box we can read about McKeyl to get to know him better and we have instructions on how the lava lamp works.
This picture of the doll is in the lower left corner, but I see something strange there. Doesn't Adrienne Atoms look awesome?
There is a pre-cut window on the back of the box, which would make it easier to open the package if some of the plastic to be cut were not hidden in the frame. He finally got out of the box.
McKeyl has an oval face and light skin with a few blemishes on his nose and cheeks. She has bright green eyes and deep eyelashes. Her lips are plump and painted naked. I love that her makeup is natural.
She has long, wavy, dark brown hair. Her hair is very messy on the back, but stylish.
She wears black felt made of super cheap plastic and covered in velvet. It is beautiful but of poor quality.
Her outfit features a beautiful black denim jacket with black sleeves, a white shirt with the image of an owl and a short denim trousers with a pendant. The jacket is very pretty.
Without jackets, you will look better with a shirt and jeans. I love the owl with glasses!
She also wears light gray knee socks, a very delicate pattern that looks like a letter to me.
The shoes are battle style red boots with black soles. They created “MC2” on the heel.
She’s not wearing earrings, but she has this pretty ring with Mc2 written on it.
It comes with a white plastic backpack decorated with silver chains and charm.
It also comes with a composition book and a red tablet. The tablet is included in a composition book, which is good for a spy.
McKeyla is a beautiful doll. I’ve never had a doll with eyes and I was afraid it would vibrate in photos, but it looks great. I like the concept of the line, especially the educational purpose attached to it. The science of experimentation is fairly straightforward, but it can increase the interest of girls.
Although the doll is very pretty, there are some quality issues. For some reason his body plastic looks cheap and his knee joints are so loose that he can't hold on without falling. However, her hair and clothes were of good quality and I liked the design a lot. Overall, I think these dolls are quite expensive in Spain, at least in terms of quality.
I like Project Mc2 and would love to have more but at a lower price. I also want to see new waves soon.
So what do you think of McKeyla? Do you collect Project Mc2 dolls?
