Retro craft: DIY vintage resin lucite vine

Do you know Harzwein? This is how women over fifty like to do it... It's nice to see grapes in women's houses. It is commonly known as Lucite wine. I decided that it was the perfect craft to inspire me and create my own collection. My mother-in-law has a shade of purple and I chose shades of blue and green. Blue is an obsession. When you can't predict!

Start by removing the jewelry from the jewelry. Place the blanks in an egg carton. I used metal leaf embellishments on the mirror... I opened the jar and some of the silver leaf remained.

If you don't like the silver effect, use clear glass. Sprinkle a piece of spice on each decoration and place it inside.

Pour a glass of water into a measuring cup and measure... This way you can see how much liquid each ball contains. They each had more than 1 oz. I mixed about 6 ounces of asphalt at a time to mix different colors. Mix the adhesive according to the general instructions. Mix 1 part resin to 1 part solid, stirring constantly for 2 minutes. Then pour the mixed glue into another cup and stir with a new stick for another minute.

Then add a few drops of green and a couple of drops of blue. I did some darker and lighter combinations... others green and blue. The variety of colors in my crop is incredibly interesting. Mix the paint well before pouring.

Gently apply bitumen to each decoration after mixing. Then slowly pour in the glue, being careful to get all the glue into the ball but not into the throat... or then use a grinder to remove it.

Continue drawing decorations in the same way. Then sit stress-free for 24 hours. I mixed the glue several times to fill all 18 decorations with the 32 oz.

The next day, put 2 ornaments together in a box. Again, wear gloves, wear goggles, and work outside or in the garage. These decorations break the glass into pieces, as shown in the photo below.

They break jewelry when hit and glass is very light. It did have some strong spots though that I had to scrape out with a small spoon. Then rinse with warm soapy water.

Do you see how many silver leaves are left as a result? In any case, at least I didn't get off without explaining myself first... but I also liked the result!

I then sent my son to the garage to soak the cores in sand and drill a 1" hole in each ball for 6" cable. Then put it on a piece of wire and add 2 drops of super glue.

Now drill holes in the branch 1/2-1 inch apart.

Then pull the cable through the hole and secure the remaining cable firmly to the branch.

Now make holes as needed and add balls of rennet. Finally, wrap the wire around the vine as you work.

Then fill in the gaps by adding colored bituminous pearls. At the end, place the resin as close to the stem as possible and slowly lower it as you go up. ይስ Give it a distinctive grape look.

The color palette is exceptionally impressive - I love the vibrant pop of watercolor! It's great, isn't it?! It's like a time machine that takes you back to the fifties! I like the wonderful reconstruction of the vineyard.
