Retro Craft: Vintage Resin Lucite Grapes DIY

Do you know resin grapes? That's what women did in the 1950s ... it's funny to see bunches of grapes in nursing homes. They are usually called Lucite grapes. I decided I really needed to learn to do it right. My mother-in-law has a collection of purple resins, but I decided to stay on the blue-green shades. I'm crazy about blue. If you still can't tell!

Start by removing accessories from jewelry. Place them in a box with the eggs hole up. I used jewelry with a metal sheet in the glass ... so when I removed the glass, some of the silver was left.

Use clear glass if you don’t like the silver effect. Spray a drop of mold cream inside each piece of jewelry և apply it inside.

Fill a tall holiday glass for a modern floral arrangement. Mine weighed just over 1 ounce each. I mixed about 6 ounces of resin at a time so I could mix different colors. Mix the resin according to the instructions on the package. Gently mix 1 part resin և 1 part hardener for 2 minutes. Then pour the mixed resin into a second cup using a new mixing stick for 1 minute.

Then add a few drops of green, one or two drops of blue. I made darker և lighter blends ... a little greener և more blue. The variety of flowers in my bouquet is incredibly pleasing. Mix the paint well before pouring.

After mixing, gently pour the resin into each ornament. Then slowly add, try to finish the resin in a bowl, but not in your mouth ... otherwise you will need a coffee grinder to then remove them.

Continue to fill the kits in the same way with colored resin. Then leave them alone for 24 hours. I mixed the resin several times to complete all 18 gems, almost the entire box at 32 ounces.

The next day, tie the 2 jewels together in a box. Again. Wear gloves, protect eyes և Work outdoors or in the garage. The glass in this decor will be broken into pieces as shown in the image below.

Decorations are broken by hitting them, and glass is much easier to break. Although I had hard to reach areas that needed to be scraped off with a small spatula. Then wash them all in warm soapy water.

See how many silver sheets are left at the end? Anyway, I didn’t know it would happen until I tried it, but the effect I also like.

I then sent my son to the garage to grind the sticks and cut a 1-inch hole in each ball for 6-inch threads. Then insert the threads and add a few drops of superglue.

Then run the wire through the hole and tightly wrap the rest of the wire around the branch.

Now drill holes if necessary և keep adding resin balls. Finally, as you work, wrap the yarn around the grapes.

Then fill in the blanks by adding multicolored resin balls. Keep the raspberries as close to the stick as possible at the end և remove them when you rise ... give a neat bunch of grapes.

The color scheme is just amazing. I love bright aquamarine tones. That's great, isn't it? It’s like a time machine that takes you back to the 1950s. I love to embody hilarious vintage items.
