Reclaimed Wood Lamp with Geometric Himmeli Shade!
Lamp in recycled wood in the geometric shade of Himeli!
Recycling and recycling projects are my favorite! This beautiful lamp is made with a piece of old pallets, a lamp and a straw. Yep, Al sounds really bad to me, it seems BT isn't for me either.
This cool lamp tutorial was updated from its original release in 2014. This lamp caught my eye! I won first prize in the Instructables competition , went to Atlanta Georgia for a special event, and won many home storage tools. Inspired by me, many people send me photos of their lights. So I did what I did!
I removed the old pallet ... and there was a large block of wood between the layers. They are full of garbage and should be put on a pile of "fire then". We lit a fire last weekend and took one of the beams!
In my head it quickly turned into a recycled wooden lamp ... and I saved the animal from drowning!
Supplies needed for the Himeli recycled geometric lampshade wooden lamp:
- 4 x 4 inch wooden blocks
- Drill and 3/8 "drill.
- A set of bottle lights and / or pool chain lights
- Coffee blender
- Yarn (I used floral thread)
- Pliers
- Gold spray paint (optional)
- Clean or scrub (optional)
Step 1: make a hole
Start by making a hole in the top of the wood, but not quite at the bottom. Then drill from the back until it merges with the hole in the center. I didn't measure or do anything ... it worked!
This basically creates an "L" shaped hole along the trunk.
Step 2: Install the lamp assembly
After making the hole, use a little thread and pull it up from the back door. Then connect the power cord with the rear cord and disconnect it from the hole. Pull gently so that the cord does not come loose from the power cord.
Then wrap the perforated screw tube around the wire and twist it into the hole at the top of the wooden block. It fits very well and is snug. Use the pliers to secure it completely.
Step 3: Turn off the lights
Now follow the instructions for wiring the power cable into the lamp. Start by securing the bottom of the lamp assembly against the threaded tube.
Then make an electrical knot. Note the difference between the straps: one layer is striped and the other is smooth. This is important.
Then connect the wire to the socket / section of the tension chain. Silver screws get nerve threads and thin threads get gold screws. (Again, see the instructions on your light set and not mine).
Then tighten the knot under the plug so that it fits snugly against the plug.
Then move the cap off and line up the chain and push it down until the cap on the cap snaps.
Gather the thread with the hook, loosen the screw and slide it before tightening it.
Right click at the bottom of the top. So the lights are connected. And ready for cosmetics.
Step 4: Clean or stain the wood
Now treat the wooden blocks according to your choice. You can paint the color, add a small spot of wood, or lightly rub the wood over the final wax.
Just rub the finished wax on the wooden block with a small cloth.
Here she is! It looks great, but the most important thing is to make sure the lighting really works! Turn on the light bulb and plug it in to see if the wiring is correct.
I always pray when I connect ... I hope everything is fine! Success - and most importantly, rich!
Step 5: Show the geometric skylight
The lamp is perfect as it is ... but I think the fun homemade geometric colors are fine!
I created a geometric tone for Himeli with coffee straws and light floral threads. Himeli is a traditional Finnish mobile phone made of rye straw. It's actually made of plastic straws and not a phone ... but whatever.
This is a geometric icosahedron.
I started cutting my straws in half ... 3 1/2 inches. This works both for lining up the strips and using a rotary cutter to cut them and then cut them all at once.
Next one,
Weave a long thread ... about a meter or a meter.
Then thread 3 strands of thread ... twist the thread into a triangle.
Then add 2 more and turn the other side into a double / diamond triangle.
Then add 2 more ... rotate and add 2 more ... etc.
It sounds confusing, but once you get started, it's easy enough. Just make a straw triangle.
Until you hit three balls!
So basically each bunch of straws is a set of 5 straws. It takes some practice, but it happens naturally. There are multiple cables with straws to take you wherever you need it.
But it's also a lot of fun!
Whenever you need more wire, twist another long cable like below. The straw will cover the thread seams and make them look amazing.
Keep practicing until you can say it with conviction and conviction.
It has 20 triangular faces. Twist the last strand and the remaining strand from the nearest straw.
Unbelievable - such a hug would be nice. Place it on a coat, on the front table or use it as a focal point for an event like a wedding!
Now put the shadow of the sky on the light. The small bulb helps to fit snugly without heating the straw under the influence of light. LED bulbs are the best choice because they don't get hot.
You can leave a natural black shadow on the geometric sky as shown below. It looks nice.
Step 6: paint!
Or you decide to draw. I have decided to shine with gold. I used the spray paint and watered the straw a little ... let it dry
And repeat until wrapped.
Use a light coat of paint, allowing the area to dry to prevent smudging or smudging.
She is very beautiful. It really looks like a copper or brass pipe!
Who would have thought it was a plastic straw?
Looks great as a lamp display!
I put it on a block of wood without mounting it. You can glue it with a hot head or glue. Now the living room is ready to decorate the table at the end of the bedroom or to light up the study with its geometric glow!
See how beautifully it reflects on the wall!
I have been using this lamp for 8 years now. I love and still use. Survive at home and abroad. I am very happy with this. It's small and simple, with a really chic ambiance, but obviously made with recycled materials. This must be a sight!
I like!
I am totally obsessed.
I turned off all the lights and called the family council so my kids could see the praise for me!
Hahaha - I think they are glad they didn't have to help me.
