How to Stencil a Doormat with Cricut

First, cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the 12x24 lightweight mattress and place it on the mat with a light/pale side. Upload an image to Cricut Design Space. Resize up to 23.5 inches. Then place on a passe-partout and cut out on glossy paper.

Now carefully remove each cut out letter from the freezer paper. We only use open spaces for stencils.

Be sure to keep the letters inside.

The template should look like this. Anything you wish to paint on the finished product should be removed from the stencil.

Then carefully remove the freezer paper from the mattress and place it on your door. Use the EasyPress mini to heat the freezer paper and "stick" it to the bottom. The paper surface of the freezer melts easily and sticks to the fabric.

If you use this technique on a shirt, it's very easy. This rug will not be perfect because it has a lot of texture. Secure it in place, then secure the freezer paper to the bottom with flat straps.

Then add the centers of the letters. Click on them and then edit them.

Now it's time to paint. Use an exterior paint stencil brush. Hold the stencil with your non-dominant hand as you draw. Use the top down method to prevent the color from fading under the stencil.

Fill the whole area with color and then clean your brush.

After cleaning the brush but until the paint dries, remove the freezer paper from the mat.
