How to Make Resin Rainbow Coasters DIY
How to make rainbow glass from resin with your own hands
Make beautiful rainbow resin coasters. These funny holders will be a great gift with your own hands. These glowing rainbows are simple acrylics/resins that can be made in under an hour...plus drying time. Have you ever tried emitting acrylic? It's so much fun and exciting... I want to paint every surface in my house!NECESSARY ACCESSORIES:
- Envirotex Lite Gloss Liquid Varnish
- wooden brackets
- Creative acrylic paint in fuchsia, yellow and blue
- Mixing cup, stir stick, disposable work surface and gloves
- heat gun or embossing gun
Start by uncovering the work surface and covering it with a disposable cover. I used a plastic tablecloth. Then place the small cups on the table. Put the glasses on the glasses.
Keep containers away from the table to allow excess resin to squirt out and not pool around the table.
Then mix the resin according to the instructions on the packaging. The resin I used, Envirotex-Lite High Gloss Resin, compares 50 times to the project varnish. Mix the resin mixture in a two-step process.
Proper mixing is the only way to ensure the resin works well. Mix 1 part resin and 1 part hardener for 2 minutes. Then pour the resin into a second glass and stir with a second stick for a minute. It is ready to use.
Pour the resin into small cups. Put a pea-sized amount of acrylic paint in each cup and stir the paint well. Pink, yellow, blue and white.
Now the most interesting! Be sure to wear gloves and mix 2 colors gently. Pink and blue rotate and mix to become purple. Wipe the gloves with a baby wipe.
Then use a punch gun to gently blow out the resin. This will burst the resulting bubbles and impart movement to the medium. You will look like a wave on the beach with foam.
Then quickly sand the bottom edge to remove any drips. That's all! They can be placed on a coffee table for hot drinks, or make a thoughtful gift with your own hands!
