How to Make Resin Quartz Crystals
How to make quartz crystal resin
This fun craft lets you create as many beautiful crystals as you want...enough to fill your treasure chest! They look like real quartz crystals and reflect light the same way. Learn how to make resin crystals with EasyMold Resin and EasyCast. Let's get started!
Necessary supplies:
Small plastic bowl that fits in the glass
1 or more real glass (can be clay or wood)
hot glue gun
shake the stick
mixing cups
Disposable desk and gloves
Mold making:
Start making a glass mold. A plastic container that matches the crystals you found. Crystals can be baked into clay or wood.
Gently wipe the inside of the container with an antifungal spray. Then apply hot glue to one side of the glass.
Press hot glue down the plastic container, securing it in place of the crystals.
Now it's time to mix the easy-to-shape silicone rubber. Read and follow the instructions carefully.
Mix well a portion of each bowl. Spraying the inside of the jar with a mold converter and releasing the mist will help when trying to remove the mold.
Mix as directed, pour into silicone rubber plastic wrap, and cover glass completely. Leave the container for 24 to 48 hours.
After the silicone rubber has hardened, remove the mold from the plastic container. It can be hard...but keep working with a stick, and release each end.
resin production:
Cut the top of the silicone mold with small scissors. Then add Easy Cast Resin. A good way to find out how much to mix is to fill the mold with water, drain the water with a dipstick...then mix that amount.
Mix the EasyCast resin in a two-step process according to the directions. Mix 1 part resin with a solid for 2 minutes using a mixing stick. Then pour it into a second cup and mix it with another mixer for a full minute.
Pour the resin into the glass mold. Allow the resin to harden for 24 hours. Then remove the resin crystals from the silicone mold. The mold is made of silicone and is flexible because it is easy to de-mold. Repeat as many times as you like!
This resin crystal is gorgeous! You don't have to worry about bubbles, they give each crystal their character and reality. Reflect sunlight like a prism. Now that you know how to make resin crystals, what are you going to do with it?
