How to make a keychain from a monkey's fist.
Learn how to make a keychain from paracord keys and it will be a great handmade gift! This fun product is perfect for older children, especially teenagers. This will be a great gift for your teen to give to his friends or family.
We love to give gifts for the New Year with their own hands. Every child and parent makes a gift to everyone with their own hands. This is the highlight of the holiday! It suddenly changes my attitude to the question “What will I get for Christmas?”. on "I can't wait until you open the gifts I gave you." I like this rethinking, thinking about others, not about myself.
I hired my 18 year old son to help me with this project. He is an experienced whip manufacturer and the grand champion of Whip Cracker 2020 . You can see his Instagram here. When making a whip, she works a lot with the paracord, so for her it's a pretty easy craft.
I got this paracord from Strapworks in exchange for this post. Affiliate link included.
Strapworks has paracord, straps, ties, buckles and more! I know your choice of paracord and keychain is perfect for a keychain with a monkey fist.
Sometimes it is difficult to involve older children in handicrafts or gifts. It’s fun for this age group. These keychains are beautiful and required skill to create, but they felt so natural to her.
It is also a great gift for men that is sometimes hard to find. This cool keychain is perfect for storing keys or zippering in a backpack!

Step 1: Cut the paracord
Start by trimming the paracord to 5.5-6 feet. 6 feet is great if you want to make a necklace, 5.5 feet is enough for a keychain.
Step 2: Wrap
Now start 6 inches from one end of the paracord and wrap the cord around your fingers 3 times. Then hook the thread with two fingers as shown in the picture so that the thread is directed towards the back of your hand.
Then wrap 3 loops, 3 more loops.
Using the last loop, extend the end of the paracord through the center of the loop.
Step 3: Marble
Now put the balloons in the parachute loop.
Step 4: Wrap again
Now wrap the paracord three times around the balloon.
Did you notice my son’s “special” finger? He’s a left-hander, so I was wondering if this lesson would embarrass those of us who are left-handed. But since he doesn't have a finger on his right hand, he holds the string just like me ... so follow me!
Step 5 - Tighten
Now ready to pull to tighten. Start at the end of the cord and move to the other end of the paracord.
Step 6: Tighten
Going through the wires and tightening them as much as possible, go through and repeat the process, it will literally make the paracord fall on the marble.
Repeat the process for each color of the paracord and make many handmade gifts for friends and family!
Fill the keychain with a metal trigger.
Put the fittings on both paracord straps.
Then wrap the paracord around the fittings in a knot and tighten tightly. Then cut the short ends with scissors and light the nylon ends. Let them cool down and voila!
Turn one of them into an individual necklace! It can be loose necklaces or tight as necklaces.
