Learn how to make a monkey knot keychain with paracord for a great handmade gift! This fun product is suitable for older children, especially teenagers. It will be a great gift for your teens to give to their friends or family.
We love to give our own handmade gifts for Christmas. Each child and parent gives a gift to each with their own hands. This special holiday! She immediately changes her attitude from "what am I going to get for Christmas" to "I can not wait to open the gift I gave you." I love this emotional change, to think of others before myself.
I kidnapped my 18 year old son to help me with this project. He is an expert on whip production and the 2020 Whip Cracker Grand Champion, check out his Instagram here. When he makes the whip, he works a lot with paracord, so it's a very easy craft for him.
I received this paracord from StrapWorks in exchange for this post. Affiliate link included.
Strapwork has all the paracord, webbing / straps, rope, bass, and more! You know your choice of paracord and keychain hook is perfect for a monkey fist keychain.
Sometimes it is difficult to give gifts or make handmade gifts to older children. It's fun for that age. These keychains are great and they have the skills to make them, but it comes very naturally to them.
They become a wonderful gift for men, sometimes hard to find. This amazing keychain is perfect for locating keys or attaching zippers to your backpack!

Ingredients for Monkey Feast Kitchen with Paracord:
Marble
Scissors
Lights
Step 1: Cut the paracord
Start with an intersection on a 5.5 to 6 foot long parachute. 6 feet is ideal if you want to make a necklace, 5.5 feet is enough for a keychain.
Step 2: Wrap
Now start 6 inches from one side of the paracord and wrap the cord around your finger 3 times. Then hook the cord between 2 fingers as shown so that the cord moves behind the palm of your hand.
Then close 3 loops, another 3 loops.
With the last loop, extend the end of the paracord through the middle of the loops.
Step 3: Marble
Now place the ball in the loop of paracord.
Step 4: Close again
Now wrap the paracord 3 times around the marble.
Did you notice my son's "special" fingers? He's left-handed, so I was wondering if this tutorial for the right-handed would be confusing. However, since he does not have fingers on his right hand, he holds the cord just like I do ... so follow him!
Step 5: Tighten
You are now ready to pull hard. Start at the end of the cord and continue to the other side of the cord.
Step 6: Tighten again
After threading the cord and making it as tight as possible, thread and repeat the process, it will really stretch the paracord over the marble.
Repeat this process for each color of paracord and create tons of handmade gifts for your friends and family!
Complete the keychain with a metal clasp.
Slide the accessories onto the two strings of the Monkey Fist paracord.
Then wrap the paracord around the accessories with a knot and pull tight. Then cut the edges with scissors and lighten the edge of the nylon with a lighter. Let them cool and voila!
Turn it into a compatible necklace too! It can be a loose necklace or as tight as a choker.
