Colored pencil vase on a lathe with your own hands!

I like stationery. This pot for pencils is an absolutely fantastic DIY project from start to finish. My wife and I work together on this exciting trade. Make a vase and a wood lathe from your own resin pencils. This interesting conversation will become a coffee table conversation!

This vase is perfect for crafts when there is a school supply sale! Or ... put in last year's supplies, leftovers, crumbs and make a vase out of crumbs.


Colored pencils work well. When I was in high school, I was invited to an advanced art class, but I needed equipment. This list includes quality colored pencils. In the era of no internet, buying colored pencils is very difficult and expensive.

This was a financial hardship for my mother, but she still bought me 24 packs. More than a dollar each. But those are the best colored pencils ... and I learned to love art, not art. Haha, I'm an artist, but I don't consider myself an artist.


Despite the fact that 216 colored pencils were used for this vase, the real star of this project is the glossy resin. Without it, he looks sad and fuzzy. Let's get started!

NEEDED ACCESSORIES FOR CASTELLA:

• EasyCast Clear Dish Epoxy
• spray to remove mildew
• colored pencils (many)
• Plastic container for bottling (bottle with vinegar)
• shingles
• rock or weight
• Empty box
• Mixing bowl, kneading wand, disposable gloves and work surface
• hobby knife
• packing tape
• saw table
• Tools for lathe / lathe

Step 1: Pencil

Start by finding a container that fits the size of your lathe. It must not be more than 8 inches in diameter and 12 inches in height. I found this cleaning vinegar at the dollar store, and the pan is perfect. I cleaned the bathroom and toilet ... then went to the pencil case.


Use a knife to cut off the top of the container.


Place the pencil tightly into the container. I put 216 colored pencils in the case.


Then use clear tape and wrap the container and the tip of the colored pencil.

Then I put a piece of wood and stone on top to keep the colored pencils from floating. Now let the resin dry and harden for a few days.


Once the resin has hardened, use a knife to cut and remove the plastic container.

Step 4: Rotate

Then turn on the unit on the lathe. Use a lathe cutter to cut and shape the vase. Work slowly and remove small pieces at once.


This is a long process, but it is better not to rush it. Some devices break during use, which is to be expected.


The vase is formed! We decided to dig a little deeper to find a second layer of colored pencils beside it.


Add as many decorative lines and curves as you want. It is interesting to cut out the vase to show all the layers of colored pencils.


When everything is fine, we cut the bottom edge of the vase with a hacksaw.


The rest looks so pretty!


Now the vase is carved and it's amazing!


The top looks really fun with muted colored pencils randomly placed around it.


The base is also great - it offers a wide variety of colored pencils to use.


Excessive use will cause the tip of the handle to slightly smudge. Therefore, resin finishing is required.

Step 5 - Glossy finish
