Downton Abbey Inspired 1920's Garden Party!
A 1920s garden party inspired by Downton Abbey!
Have a great party at the movie premiere or celebrate the 20th year of 1920!
Let's get started.
I like to wear nice clothes. It's like my favorite pastime. I usually only wear black yoga pants and a black t-shirt ... but I like to wear suits. So, of course, I really enjoy hosting parties with a fun dress code ... and a prize for the best dress!
The perfect table for a 1920's party:
This table is very simple but elegant.
- Plastic tablecloth covered with lace
- Yo-yo fan in rose gold
- Multi-level tray
- Polished silver tea set
- Art Deco
- Fairy screen
For a cheap chicken or chicken party, ask guests to share their fingers. I am always surprised to see the number of sweets at the time of departure!
I set another table for the food brought by the guests at the party. I had a pot full of meatballs and a box of 30 creams.
I bought this beautiful red dress from Goodwill when I was living in Alabama about 5 years ago. I didn't wear one. Last year I thought about dressing up for Halloween ... but it was too tight.
Luckily this year I was in better shape and the outfit was like a dream. This three level dress was so much fun!
This edge of the garment was exposed
Or this wonderful gold with a black edge
A guest also wore a wig ... a lie ???
I had a table for parties and crafts. Guests collected clips of tassled keys and had to pick a hair pin to take home.
Here are the materials I used: Link aff
Wrench with a brush20 vintage hair clips
Hair bowl with pearl beads
The great thing about organizing a party for girls is that it doesn't have to be fun. They are happy to talk to each other and enjoy the evening. If you have a family, install kids games - this is an interesting option.
Smooth the silver bowl - so good that Mr. Carson can be proud of it! Invite Mrs. Patmar to eat cake! Find art deco, geometric, gold, lace, fairy lights, step trays, silverware, porcelain and all sorts of weird things!
Okay, let's talk about 1920s hairstyles. Outreach: I'm not a beauty blogger. Although Crowley's girls have hair, they wear it. I decided to give it a try. I have very long hair, but I curl with a short curl.
In the end, it was one foot shorter than my straight hair! I round it all, then lightly brush it to smooth the waves. I used clips pushing the curls back and forth and spraying the hairspray to design the face. So I put on a glass band and removed the hugs .
So I split my hair into 2 parts and twisted it from the back so that it could be seen from the front and combed in place. Then glue some pins.
This artificial bob is always a fun image for people like me with long hair. I inserted a pair of pow-pens into the headband to complete the look. Then add bangs and a long necklace and you are golden.
Costume Competition:
Here's how I organize a clothing contest without a special jury:
I give each guest 3 carnival tickets. They mingled, surrounded and gave tickets to three people who liked the costume. Guests then count their tickets and see who gets the most, who gets the second, and so on. I give away 3 prizes for the best dress.
That way everyone has a chance to vote ... if they really like someone's outfit they can give them 3 tickets. I won't let myself win my competition, so I'm not telling them ... or giving to others.
The first prize went to a gold and pearl tiara
In second place was the Sequin Clutch
Third place went to a pearl and glass necklace
Who do you think won the clothing competition?
That's it! I hope this gives you some confidence and some nice ideas for planning your roaring twenty flapper party!
