Colored Pencil Vase Turned on the Lathe DIY

The pencil-colored vase turned into a DIY tower!

I like office supplies. This colored pencil vase is a great DIY project from start to finish. My husband and I were working on this fun craft. Make a colored pencil vase out of resin and make a lathe to bend the wood. This entertaining conversation will be discussed at the table!

This vase is perfect for selling school supplies! Or ... throw away pieces of broken resin and make a vase out of scrap metal.


Colored pencils are the best. When I was in high school, I was invited to a high level of art, but I needed some materials. The list included high quality colored pencils. In the days before the Internet, it was more difficult and expensive to buy these colored pencils.

It was a financial hardship for my mother, but she bought me 24 packages. But these were the best colored pencils of all time ... and I learned to love art, not art. Hahaha, I'm an artist, but I don't consider myself an artist.


Although 216 colored pencils are used for this vase, the main star of this project is bright resin. It looks boring and spectacular without it. Let's start!

Materials required for welding:

• Mold-removing spray
• Crayons (many)
• Plastic containers (small vinegar bottles)
• Pieces of wood
• Stone or weight
• Empty box
• Mixing glasses, moving rods, gloves and work surface
• Hobby knife
• Packaging tape
• See table
• Led / Led tools

Step 1: Pen

Start by finding a lathe-sized container. No more than 8 inches in diameter and no more than 12 inches long. I found this cleansing vinegar in a dollar store and the pot was perfect. I cleaned the toilet and the toilet ... then I started working with crayons.


Use an oven knife to cut the top of the pot.


Securely place the colored pencils in the containers. I put 216 colored pencils in the container.


Then use clean tape and wrap it around the pot and in colored pencil.

Then I put a piece of wood and a stone on it so that the pencils would not float. Now let the resin dry and harden for a few days.


Once the resin has hardened, use a knife to cut the plastic container.

Step 4: Return

Then turn the block on the lathe. Use a cutting lathe to cut and shape the vase. Work slowly and take small pieces at a time.


This is a long process, but it is better not to hurry. Part of the pen comes out as soon as it starts and is normal.


It takes shape in a vase! We decided to dig deeper to reveal the second layer of crayons on the side.


Add as many decorative lines and curves as you like. It is fun to cut a vase to show all the layers of colored pencils.


When we were completely happy, we used a saw to cut the bottom edge of the vase.


And the rest of the room is beautiful!


Now the whole vase is sculptural and amazing!


The upper part is sometimes very attractive with matte colored pencils.


The base is also beautiful - it offers a full range of colored pencils used.


If you work too much with the pen, it will get a little dirty. Therefore, it needs a resin coating.

Step 5: The final touch
